Once an important Tudor palace, this atmospheric mansion has some illustrious connections, from Henry VIII to one of our greatest novelists, Jane Austen.

Jane was a visitor to The Vyne; indeed, her letters disclose a less than favourable opinion about some members of the Chute family, though she was fond of others.

To mark the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, we are celebrating with a year-long programme of events and activities including a small exhibition that explores Jane’s links with the property, mansion tours that reveal an honest account of the family’s exchanges with the author, Regency dancing displays, outdoor theatre and cinema, tea & talk afternoons and much more.
